Abstract
When developers of the new Bear Lake Vistas housing complex in Garden City, Utah received a $1.3 million estimate on a proposed underground stormwater detention system, they asked the Prinsco team for an alternative. The solution needed to provide stormwater management for 251 townhomes in the popular recreation and tourist destination.
Within 24 hours, Prinsco sales, engineering, and drafting teams collaborated to value engineer a solution that came in at just under $600,000, less than half the cost of the original estimate. Their design used more than 800 of Prinsco’s HydroStor® HS290 chambers in the tight space under the site parking to provide over 160,000 cubic feet of underground stormwater storage.
By value engineering a solution, the Prinsco team was able to quickly deliver a reliable and cost-effective solution, while offering huge savings to the project developers.
