Abstract
When a new Hyatt Place was planned in Ontario, California, effective stormwater management was a critical part of the hotel’s site design. The project required a stormwater solution that could manage runoff beneath parking areas, support long-term site functionality, and minimize maintenance.
The site had some challenges, including the small size of the parking lot as well as existing planting areas and utilities. Additionally, the piping system was a bit more complicated than traditional systems and connecting system flows together required a customized solution.
As part of that solution, Prinsco brought in 244 HydroStor® HS290 stormwater chambers. Design assistance and on-site engineering support from Prinsco ensured the project stayed on track from planning through installation. Using special fittings to connect the existing and new systems, the team was able to provide the hotel with more than 43,000 cubic feet of underground stormwater detention.
Key Project Features:
- Large storage capacity: 244 HydroStor HS290 storm chambers were installed beneath parking areas, providing more than 43,000 cubic feet of underground stormwater detention.
- Integrated system components: Harco PVC drain basins and Prinsco HDPE pipe manifolds were included to ensure system performance and reliability.
- Built for long-term durability: Meets AASHTO Section 12 loading requirements and ASTM F2418 and ASTM F2787 standards.
- Low-maintenance design: The system features a sediment row, which captures more than 80% of silt and sediment.
