Abstract

A new wholesale facility in Spanish Fork, Utah, required an underground stormwater storage system designed to prevent infiltration beneath its parking areas. Working with the Prinsco engineering and sales team, they found the right solution for their specific project requirements.

To avoid the high water table, 190 HydroStor® HS31 stormwater chambers were installed at a shallow depth. A thermoplastic liner and underdrain ensured zero stormwater infiltration. And, by staggering the inlets to non-adjacent end caps, the client was able to save money.

Prinsco engineering and sales teams collaborated closely on this project during the design and installation phases, resulting in a system that provides more than 6,750 cubic feet of underground stormwater detention for the high-traffic commercial site.

Key Project Features

  • Reliable detention capacity: 190 HydroStor HS31 storm chambers were installed beneath the parking lot, providing over 6,750 cubic feet of underground storage.
  • Engineered for non-infiltration: A thermoplastic PVC liner was incorporated into the design to eliminate infiltration and protect surrounding soil and infrastructure.
  • Durable construction: Meets AASHTO Section 12 loading requirements and ASTM F2418 and ASTM F2787 standards.
  • Low-maintenance system: The Prinsco Sediment Row captures more than 80% of silt and sediment.
